Giroscope has a range of properties from one-bedroom flats through to five-bedroom houses all in west Hull. The vast majority are two or three bedroom terraced houses which are typical of the area. They are all located in the Newington and St. Andrew's wards, between Anlaby Road and Hessle Road. Our houses and flats are conveniently situated close to the city centre and the KC Stadium. You can be in the middle of the city or at the stadium in five or ten minutes by car or bus.

We are set up to help people in housing need, particularly those who are struggling to find accommodation in the traditional private rented sector. As this is the case we do not charge deposits or ask for rent in advance, unlike many landlords. We simply charge a fair weekly rent for the area based on individual circumstances. We also offer an informal basic support service to our tenants who are entitled to benefits. For example we help them complete their housing benefit forms and tell them about the different benefits they can get. We house a wide range of people, including single parents, the long-term unemployed, ex-offenders and people who are in full-time employment.

Our houses and flats are let with cookers, fridge freezers and beds. Some of our properties are let fully-furnished. We often have spare furniture at our workshops (such as chairs, tables, wardrobes and chests of drawers) for people who need them.

Hull Accredited Landlord Scheme (HALS)
Giroscope played a significant role in setting up the HALS and have been a member since mid-February 2005.

HALS is a new concept in partnership working to improve the status of the private rented sector and provide good quality, well managed accommodation in the city. It sets out a code of management standards and a code of physical standards that landlords agree to follow. In return they are rewarded by a series of benefits facilitated by the Council.
